Many years ago, I recall happening upon a book about St. Malachy and his prophecy of the popes. Malachy’s cryptic list haunted me, because it had a very definite end. The final pope in his list was to be a harbinger of not only the end of the papal system, but the end of everything. Knowing little to nothing about the papal system at that time, I managed to put the creepy prophecy out of my head, until earlier this year when I heard about Petrus Romanus.
